Reloj
Day 39: 10/9/08
In school today, we didn’t really do much. Like I’ve said before, it’s pretty boring most of the time. And by “pretty boring”, I mean mind numbingly boring 95% of the time. But this is what I signed up for, and at least I don’t have to do any homework.
Today for lunch, it was something new (gasp!). Take a ham and cheese hot pocket, bread it, and then fry it. That’s what they call “San Jacopo frito”. I didn’t like it, because, one, it was fried, and two, something about it just tasted off, so I only ate one and just loaded up on rice and bread, something that I do frequently. I should mention here that I am actually a bit disgusted by the way my family eats. I am no slouch when it comes to eating quickly/like a pig, as I’ve won a few eating contests in my day. However, I believe that when I’m eating a meal, I don’t look too atrocious. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, those of you I have eaten a meal with. Juan and Juan Antonio shovel food into their mouth like they will never see another meal. There is hardly any conversation during lunch or dinner because of this. They just sit there, hunched over, fork in one hand, bread in other, and chow down. About 90% of the time, I’m by far the last one eating. One time, I got into eating contest mode and tried to beat them, and I couldn’t. I would have had to lift up my plate and shovel the food into my mouth using my hands, but I could bring myself to do that.
After lunch, I went to swimming, where I endured another 6,000 meter workout. The good thing is that I could tell swimming is already getting easier, as I didn’t get tired after a 200 today. Also, another good thing is that the coach doesn’t have any expectations of me, and she can’t tell me what to do because chances are I wouldn’t understand her, so I just swim what I want and call it good. Then I lifted, which is brutal to do after a workout, but I have nothing else to do, so I just do it for the hell of it.
I got home, and helped Elena bring in grocery bags. Then it was just hanging out until we ate dinner; fried fish. Juan Antonio and Elena went to a Handball match, so I watched Disney Channel with Marta. Tomorrow promises to be a fun day with music and then swimming in the afternoon, so I might have more to report tomorrow.
Peace.
